Who We Are
The owners of Boutique Boisson are Marjorie & Scott Neal. Professionally, Marj has worked in healthcare as an ICU nurse and, most recently, helped found an infectious disease research company at which she served as director of research. Scott, on the other hand, was a career corporate pilot and, most recently, flew for the nation’s largest commercial trucking insurer. Seeking to break out and create a business of their own, Marj and Scott left their careers to open the very first escape room in the state of Indiana, The Escape Room Indianapolis, in 2015.
This was quickly followed with escapes rooms in Fishers, IN in 2016 and Columbus, OH in 2017. Marj and Scott hail from Indianapolis, IN and have spent the better part of their thirty-plus-year marriage vacationing in northern Michigan.
Desiring to retire in northern Michigan, they jumped at the chance to sell their escape room interests in 2020 to relocate to their new home in Petoskey, MI. Not yet ready to retire, Marj dreamed of opening her own women’s boutique while Scott dreamed of opening his very own bar. After months of research and planning, a business plan finally emerged. They would open a combination boutique/bar and Boutique Boisson was born! The literal translation of Boutique Boisson is “Shop Drink” and that’s exactly what patrons can do! It is a very unique place where women can enjoy a drink while they shop and their significant others can relax at the bar, sip on their favorite beverage, and watch the latest sports on television. While they have been approved by the State of Michigan for a liquor license, it will not be until the summer of 2023 that the bar part of the business will actually open.
